 | Elderton Picture of: Type: Size: Country: Region:
Design/Artwork: Winery Notes/History: Elderton has come a long way since its humble beginnings in 1982. We are still very proud custodians of the family estate located in Nuriootpa where all of Elderton’s icon wines are produced, but in recent years we have been able to acquire other significant sites around the Barossa to further show case what the Barossa has to offer. These vineyards are highlighted below. In addition to our estate vineyards, we have been proactively sourcing the best fruit from dedicated growers on a contract basis who understand quality. Our winemaking team works very closely with these growers throughout the year to produce quality fruit and their focus is characterized as longer term, low yields, low irrigation and minimal inputs. We are excited by some of the fruit that is being delivered. Again more information on these contract vineyards can be found below. Increasingly we are also turning to biodynamic farming practices in our estate vineyards. Starting in 2007 we have farmed an old block of shiraz and cabernet on the main estate vineyard biodynamicaly. We plan to do a 3-year trial with the fruit and based on the quality of the resultant wine, if there is a noticeable step up in quality we will look to convert all of our estate holdings over. That said our first biodynamic wine should be released in mid 2009 from the 2008 vintage. |

Design/Artwork: Winery Notes/History: Côtes-de-Bourg is a wine region around the small town of Bourg-sur-Gironde near Bordeaux, France. The first vineyards in the area were founded by the Romans. In the Middle Ages, Bourg was a major port for wine and the vineyards developed at the same tempo as the estuary traffic. The Côtes de Bourg appellation, in the north of the patchwork of Bordeaux wines, took its first steps on the east bank of the Gironde. At the time, the inhabitants of Bourg were fishermen, sailors or winemakers and the latter benefited from the perfect combination of a commercially minded town and a soil made for the vine |

 | Chateau L'Eglise-Clinet Picture of: Type: Size: Country: Region:
Design/Artwork: Winery Notes/History: "L'Eglise-Clinet turned out an uncommonly rich, concentrated wine that is performing well from bottle, even though it is displaying a more tightly-knit structure than it did from cask. The dark ruby/purple color is followed by notes of charcoal, jammy cassis, raspberries, and a touch of sur-maturite. Spicy oak emerges as the wine sits in the glass. It is fat, concentrated, and medium to full-bodied, with a layered, multidimensional, highly nuance personality. This muscular Pomerol will require 3-5 years of bottle age." – WA |

 | Chateau L'Emitage Picture of: Type: Size: Country: Region:
Design/Artwork: Winery Notes/History: "L’Hermitage, one of the original garagiste estates, is a blend of 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Franc from a small 9-acre site sandwiched between such titans of St.-Emilion as Beausejour-Duffau and Angelus. The 2005 is typically pure, medium to full-bodied, opulent, and showy, with more elegance (largely because of its fresh, lively acidity) and serious structure than usual. Its intense aromatics of blackberry, black cherry, and herbs is backed-up by a full-bodied wine possessing ripe tannin as well as outstanding weight, length, and overall harmony. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2022."-Robert Parker 92 |
